Experience cycling, paddling, jogging, pilgrimage, hiking, swimming, disc golf or watching football: The near and far surroundings of the hotel open up a variety of impressions and possibilities.
Although our hotel is located in the city centre, there are numerous opportunities to unwind. The longest river in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Lippe, is only 180 m away from the hotel. On the banks of the river, the city’s staircase cascade and the Lippepark, newly opened in 2014, invite you to linger. And the Lippe meadows with their diverse flora and fauna are only a 10-minute walk away.
With pleasant water temperatures, the region’s bathing lakes and outdoor pools invite you to swim in summer, and there is almost no reason to leave the fresh water before nightfall: If it weren’t for the countless offers around the shore: Hikers and cyclists can discover the cultural landscape of Westphalia on countless trails.
The Roman-Lippe Route, the Routes of Industrial Culture and the State Garden Show Route are all nearby. Hiking trails and the Way of St. James lead almost or directly past the front door. Guided canoe tours by Lippetouristik on the river are even available by moonlight.
After your adventurous excursions, you can relax physically in our sauna directly in the hotel.
BVB and Schalke play next door. The home ground of Borussia Dortmund, the Signal-Iduna-Park in Dortmund (formerly Westfalenstadion), is only 20 km away from the hotel and can be reached by train in about 35 minutes thanks to the excellent transport location. The Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen is only 40 km away.
The Lippe meadows and cycle paths along the river offer excellent running opportunities for our active guests. Maps of our recommended jogging routes are available at reception. For swimming enthusiasts there are numerous options: the Lippe baths only 6 minutes away and open early in the morning. Lake Horstmar, the Heil natural swimming pool and the open-air pool at Lake Cappenberg guarantee endless splashing fun in summer.
Did you know that the disc golf park in the Seepark is the largest course in Germany with 26 permanently installed holes and can be played all year round free of charge?
