Cinematic highlights are provided by Cineworld Lünen (only 350 m from your accommodation), which is home to the renowned film festival Kinofest Lünen in November. In summer, numerous open-air cinemas invite you to enjoy a good film together. Other art house cinemas in Dortmund are within easy reach.
Modern, classical drama and cabaret is offered almost daily in one of these municipal theatres in Lünen, Dortmund (13 km), Münster (47 km) or Bochum (33 km). Musical theatre in Castrop-Rauxel (20 km), Gelsenkirchen (40 km).
Popular and musicals and shows in Dortmund, Oberhausen and Essen are additional popular evening events in our region.
Bands, orchestras and soloists from classical to pop, jazz to punk perform time and again in our region.
The numerous festivals such as the Ruhrfestspiele, Ruhrtriennale, Klaviersommer Ruhr, Juicy Beats, Mühlheimer Theatertage or the “Mord am Hellweg” crime festival offer them a special stage. In addition, small privately run theatres also have interesting programmes. There are at least 40 theatres within a radius of about 50 km.
During the summer, there are also various open-air events.
The museum landscape ranges from local history and town museums (Lünen), natural history (Dortmund), technology and industry (Dortmund, Waltrop), archaeology (Herne, Haltern), railways (Bochum), mining (Bochum), castle and palace lakes (Cappenberg, Opherdecke, Herten, Lüdinghausen), art museums (Dortmund, Hamm, Bochum, Bottrop, Essen), open-air museum (Hagen), sculpture park to brewery or football museum (both Dortmund) or the museum for international light art in Unna. This offer is supplemented by other exhibition halls and locations (Unna district, Dortmund, Recklinghausen, Herne, Oberhausen).
