The unveiling of the “new” Persiluhr in 1983<\/p><\/div>\n

Affectionately known as “Schlanke Mathilde”, the Persiluhr has been a meeting place and one of L\u00fcnen’s landmarks since 1928. Behind it lies an eventful history.<\/p>\n

As early as the late 19th century, there was a restaurant in the current hotel – at that time it was still called “Zur Post”. The Persil clock itself was installed by Henkel in 1928 to advertise the well-known detergent. As the only illuminated clock in the area, it quickly served as an orientation marker. At that time, it was often said “we’ll meet at the Persiluhr”. During the war it was completely destroyed. But the citizens continued to speak of it and continued to meet at the Persiluhr.<\/p>\n

In the 1980s, the merchants of L\u00fcnen got on the nerves of the Henkel company until it gave the town a replica of the old clock on the old square. The “new” Persil clock was then ceremoniously inaugurated with a big street party on 3 November 1983. At that time we had just renovated the house, and so the inn “Zur Post” became the hotel “An der Persiluhr”. In 1999 we extended the hotel with a new building.<\/p>\n
